Tips For Keeping Cold Outbreaks To A Minimum In Your Office

If you are the owner of a business with a relatively large office, then you may be concerned about germs and how they can easily spread from one employee to another. Making sure that you set up your janitorial services on a regular basis to get rid of the cold and flu viruses in your business is one of the best things you can do to curb outbreaks. There are a few other things you can do as well.

Identify the Dirty Objects in Your Office

Janitorial cleaning is mostly geared towards the larges spaces in your office that include kitchens, bathrooms, and conference rooms. Of course general cleaning of the floors may be a priority, but there may be dozens of other areas that are simply not identified or cleaned as well as they should be.

So go around your office and identify the dirtiest items in the space, and make sure they are cleaned regularly. This can be something that you can ask your janitorial staff to address or something that your employees can help you with.

Dirty objects include anything that is touched on a daily basis. Phones, computer keyboards, copy machines, faxes, desks, and the mouse are among the items that are quite dirty and germy. Provide employees with some antibacterial wipes, and instruct them to clean their personal work items two to three times a week. Ask cleaners to help with the disinfection of larger areas like desks.

Supply Hand Sanitizers

It is hard to run a business when costs are a concern, and this may be one reason who you do not want to splurge for hand sanitizers in the workplace. However, sick employees that call off are likely to cost you much more in lost productivity than some hand sanitizer.

Place hand sanitizers in places where employees gather and instruct them on the use of the product. Specifically, hand sanitizers are only effective if hands are clean first, so inform employees to use soap and water after using the bathroom and whenever the hands appear dirty. Also, when the sanitizer is used, a full pump of the product should be placed in the hands and rubbed around. Rubbing should continue until the product is dry.

In some cases hand sanitizers are not enough, so speak to employees about how they feel about the use of masks when they are feeling ill. Also, general upkeep of the ventilation system is important to keep air flowing freely.

About Me

reducing your workload around the holidays

I do look forward to all of the holidays each year. These are the days that I know that my home will be filled with my closest friends and the family that I don't get to see often enough. Preparing the house for company is a lot of work that I used to do on my own. I would spend days cleaning, organizing and rearranging things. Two years ago, I started hiring a cleaning service to come out a day or two before the holidays to perform a deep cleaning of everything. If you struggle to find the time to get your house ready for the holidays, read through the tips on my blog to find ways to make it less work for yourself.
